How to set up Taste Skill: install it, ask your AI to design your site, what to watch out for

What is Taste Skill?

Taste Skill is a free, open-source skill for Claude Code and Codex. When you ask your AI to build or redesign a company website, it picks colours and fonts that suit your kind of business and plans the page one screen at a time.

Before it hands the page over, it opens it in a hidden browser at four screen widths, from phone to desktop, and checks it against its own rules.

Step 1: Install it

You need Node.js 22 or newer and Chrome, Edge or Chromium. Inside your project folder, run:

npx skills add https://github.com/Leonxlnx/taste-skill --skill "design-taste-frontend"

If it asks where to install, pick Claude Code and this project. The skill lands in .claude/skills/design-taste-frontend in that project.

Step 2: Ask your AI to design your site

Open your project in Claude Code or Codex and paste one of these, with your own details:

Use the design-taste-frontend skill to build a one-page website for my bakery. We sell sourdough and custom cakes.
Use the design-taste-frontend skill to redesign my homepage. Check the current page in the browser before you change anything.
Use the design-taste-frontend skill to run its checker on my homepage and tell me what fails on a phone-sized screen.

What should you watch out for?

If you have no photos yet, it uses photos from its own library and marks them as stand-ins. Swap in photos of your real shop, team or product before you publish.

A skill runs with the same access as your AI. The installer shows safety ratings from outside scanners before it copies anything, so read them and say no if you're unsure.

Want your AI to set this up for you?

The Setup Kit is coming soon. Say what you're making, and your AI picks and installs the tools and instructions that project needs.
